TR Directory obliged some rules that it previously published as a recommendation by 2020. Therefore, you should consider the following points in the draft articles you will prepare for evaluation in our journal.
These are expressed on the TR Directory website as follows.
Prerequisites for TR Directory Journal Application
13. On the first page of the scientific articles in the journal, preferably the bottom, the sending and acceptance dates of the articles, the institutions of all authors, the contact information and the internationally valid “ORCID” information should be included.
TR Directory Journal Evaluation Criteria
8. The following issues should be followed under the title of ethical rules.
8.1. Ethics committee approval must be obtained for studies conducted in all disciplines including social sciences and for studies on clinical and experimental human and animals requiring ethical committee decision, this approval must be specified and documented in the article.
8.2. Under this heading, the referee, author and editor should be provided with information about the ethical rules under separate headings.
8.3. The articles should include the statement that Research and Publication Ethics are complied with.
8.4. With reference to national and international standards, ethical principles in the journal and / or website should be specified under a separate heading. 8.5. In studies requiring ethics committee permission, information about the permit (board name, date and number no) should be included in the method section and also on the first / last page of the article. The following explanation on how to apply ethical rules is available on the TR Directory Website.
Dear Editor, Dear Journalist,
There are many questions from editors and authors about the application of TR Index criteria related to Ethical rules. In order to answer questions and clarify the issue, it was necessary to explain again.
The articles related to the Code of Ethics included in the criteria in the past years were detailed with explanations in 2020, and the issue of “providing information about the permission in the article” was added to the criteria, assuming that the permissions were obtained for the studies requiring ethics committee permission in the research field.
However, as it is understood from the feedback, it is seen that detailed information about the Ethics Committee Permits is needed. For this reason, a comprehensive study will be shared later on the TR Directory web page and announced to you.
Based on the frequently asked questions, we present the information we think will help below.
QUESTION: Is ethics committee permission required for all articles?
No. It is also stated in the criteria as articles requiring “Ethics Committee Permission”.
The researches requiring the permission of the Ethics Committee are as follows.
* All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group work, observation, experiment, interview techniques.
* Use of humans and animals (including material / data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
* Clinical researches on humans,
* Researches on animals,
* Retrospective studies in accordance with the Law on Protection of Personal Data,
* In the case reports, it is stated that “Informed consent form” has been taken,
* Getting and expressing permission from the owners for the use of scales, surveys and photographs belonging to others,
* Indicating that copyright regulations are observed for the ideas and works of art used
QUESTION: Should retrospective ethical Board Permission be obtained for the studies and theses published in the past years?
Before 2020, research data has been used, produced from postgraduate / doctoral studies (should be specified in the article), and the articles that have been submitted to the journal for the previous year, have not received retrospective ethics permission.
QUESTION: Are these restrictions imposed on publications outside the universities with these rules of TR Directory?
No. Researchers who are not members of the university can also apply to the Ethics Committees in their region.
The journals should state that they comply with the rules regarding "Publication Ethics", "Research Ethics" and "Obtaining a Legal / Special Permit Certificate" by referring to international standards, by opening a separate title for each one on both the web page and in the printed journal.
The issue of compliance with publication ethics should not only be left to the responsibility of the authors, but the path to be followed regarding the publication ethics should be clearly defined.
In the articles to be published in the journals, it should be stated in the article whether the ethical committee permit and / or legal / special permission should be obtained. If these permits are required, it should be clearly presented from which institution, on what date and with which decision or number number the permission was obtained.
If the study requires the use of human and animal subjects, it should be declared that the study was carried out in accordance with international declaration, guidance etc.
It is important that the studies on the specified issues are completed within this year and any shortcomings are eliminated as soon as possible.
