Abstract
“Dragon’s Breath” is a cereal-based confectionery cooled with liquid nitrogen (LN₂) and has gained popularity among children and adolescents because of its fog-like effect. Rapid vaporization of LN₂ at −196 °C may generate abrupt intraluminal expansion and cryogenic injury, resulting in severe complications. We report an 11-year-old boy who developed a severe systemic reaction and proximal full-thickness gastric perforation within minutes after consuming “Dragon’s Breath.” Early recognition, a multidisciplinary approach, and prompt surgical and medical management led to complete recovery and discharge without complications. This case highlights the need to consider concurrent systemic and gastrointestinal complications after LN₂-infused snack exposure.
