Abstract

Objective: This study provides an opportunity to interpret the artistic impact and aesthetic reflections left on the viewer and reader by the interactive and reflective situations between two different disciplines: forensic science and aesthetics. From the perspective of aesthetic thought and art practices, death, space, fiction and plastic elements are examined with examples from different periods of art, with the aim of interpreting them through the works of artists.

Methods: In this study, representative works produced during the Renaissance, Romantic and Modern periods were evaluated in terms of aesthetic reflections, and those with a legal dimension were analysed using data collection methods. The virtual museums where the works are located were examined and a literature review was conducted. The study concluded with visual readings of legal and aesthetic sources related to the research.

Results: This section aims to highlight the significance of murder cases, which form the basis of the research, in the development of forensic aesthetic logic. Numerous works have been identified that address the dimensions and themes of murder cases reflected from the Renaissance, Romantic and Modern periods to the present day. It has been observed that these works are interpreted in the context of the aestheticisation of situations such as death/life, existence/nothingness, decay/vitality and causes of death/life on behalf of the artists.
