Vol. 16 No. 1 (2011)
Dear Readers and Distinguished Colleagues, With this issue, we are proud to be left behind fifteen successful years of publication life of The Bulletin of Legal Medicine. The Bulletin of Legal Medicine, as official scientific publication of the Association of Forensic Medicine Specialists, has been continuously published since 1996 with negligible delays from time to time. The journal owes its success to your valuable scientific contributions, besides precious efforts of all editors and associate editors, and publication committee from the moment of first publication to the present day. At this point, I would like to emphasize the importance of contributions of advisory board members in terms of enhancing the quality of publications with their great care during reviewing articles. In this regard, I would like to thank all those who provide contribution. The Bulletin of Legal Medicine adds novel forensic studies to national publishing with the support of advisory board members; however, it experiences delays in publication process due to problems in scientific journal publishing. During this period, in order to reduce interruptions and accelerating the article review process "Online manuscript tracking system" was provided to users. Improving the online manuscript tracking system by our new editorial board will contribute to further speed up in the publication process. I wish success to next editor and editorial board members; with the belief of your strong support to The Bulletin of Legal Medicine, the official scientific publication of our association, as an important means of contributing to the development of the area and sharing innovations in the field of forensic sciences. Sincerely yours, Editor Nadir ARICAN

Vol. 12 No. 3 (2007)
The Bulletin of Legal Medicine has come to the end of one more year of publication term with this issue. During the 2006-2007 term, the number of articles submitted have significantly increased. In 2007, forty submissions were put into conclusion process and 28 of them have come to an end by the effort of the reviewers and the writers. The rest are still in review process. We have witnessed that the electronic communication via adlitipbulteni@gmail.com have thoroughly influenced the reviewing process and this mode of electronic communication will be in use in the future too. We plan to accomplish the review process beginning from submission to final conclusion via our website if the financial state allows us. We believe that your support will continue increasingly. It is also evident that the term ahead of us will continue to be fruitful for the medical field we are working on. Department of Forensic Medicine of Kocaeli University Medical Faculty will be hosting VIII. Forensic Sciences Congress this year and the preparations have gained acceleration. VII. Forensic Sciences Symposium of “Current Approaches to Clid Abuse & Neglect” organized by Gaziantep University Forensic Medicine Department in collaboration with Association of Forensic Medicine Specialists was performed between 24-27 May 2007 with an excellent organization. The symposium, together with the participation of internationally acclaimed guests, demonstrated the scientific level reached at our meetings. The scientific levels of such meetings excite the meeting organizers as well as increase our hope for the future despite all negativity in the field. Just after the knowledge-fest in Gaziantep, good news came about the 2008 VIII. Forensic Sciences Congress to be organized in collaboration with Kocaeli University Forensic Medicine Department and from Porto. “IV. Mediterranean Forensic Sciences Congress” will be held in Antalya in 2009, ATUD and MASF as co-organizers, thanks to our colleague’s efforts. We would like to thank in advance to the colleagues who will put their efforts for both organizations. These scientific activities serve as a basis for sharing experiences between colleagues and also contribute to article pool of the periodicals. Thus, we see a significant increase in the number of the articles sent to Journal of Forensic Medicine to be published. Your ever increasing support to our periodical makes our task as a knowledge bridge easier. With your support, we hope to reach our goals soon, Sincerely yours. Nadir ARICAN

Vol. 12 No. 1 (2007)
Dear Forensic Scientists, As the publication committee of the Bulletin of Legal Medicine, we would like to greet and proudly inform that the Forensic Medicine Bulletin has been published in total 11 volume without any interruption since 1996 to 2006. You have been receiving the first number of 12th volume with a new publication committee. In spite of some difficulties, the Bulletin of Legal Medicine has been published successfully with your support. We would like to thank especially to Professor Serpil Salaçin and Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı for their support. Moreover, we would like to thank to our colleagues who took part in the publication committee and they will go on their valuable efforts. According to the aim that was pointed out by Professor Serpil Salaçin, the first editor of the Bulletin of Legal Medicine, at the first number, the Bulletin is getting stronger everyday. Although the Bulletin of Legal Medicine has experienced some difficulties, the mission “transferring information in its field and being an important part of scientific developing”, has been delivered under the name of the Society of Forensic Medicine Specialists' official scientific publication. In order to achieve the target that being accepted by international scientific indexes, the first step was taken and Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı is working on further steps. Although she left her post as an editor to her young colleagues, we believed that she will contribute the Bulletin of Legal Medicine with her international experience. At this point, we would like to thank to her for future assistance. In order to make faster the editorial process of papers, we will receive papers electronically, and our e-mail address is adlitipbulteni@gmail.com. We believe that editorial process will take shorter time with this new way of communication. And a tragic death, we lost Professor Ali Yemişçigil. I first met him in 1992. After that we had seen each other in congress and symposium frequently. We spent a lot of time in board meetings together while he was suffering from his fatal illness. I longed for his determination, he was lecturing as a real academician until the end. My dearest lecturer, I enjoyed from being together, altough it was a short period of time. I am sorry for people who not being given lectured by you and people although around you but missed this opportunity. I would like to send respects to Professor Ali Yemişçigil who stick to his values and tought me a lot about life.

Vol. 11 No. 3 (2006)
Dear Colleagues, You just hold this issue on the last days of this year, which is the last issue of 2006 volume. I had started as an associate editor, and continued as a chief editor for 10 years, and I have the honor to hand this very reputable position over to my brilliant young colleagues whom i am sure to improve our Bulletin much more than now. I want to express my gratitude to all my colleagues who has had a great share in the success of this Bulletin. We had started to work with only the Society of Forensic Medicine Specialists as a support, and a spirit of layman with a professional perspective. We achieved much beyond our dreams. I am going to be more tight with my schedule since i have been honoured by International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims as an independent expert in ExCom. Nevertheless, my colleagues will elevate the quality of this bulletin, and i wish them a successful period with support of our community. Sincerely, Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Prof. Dr.

Vol. 11 No. 2 (2006)
Dear Colleagues, We attended VII. Congress of Forensic Sciences in Konya, hosted by Selçuk University Medical Faculty, Department of Forensic Medicine. Both quantity, and quality of participants, researches, and presentations were profound, and sharing this great experience enriched our society. Multidisciplinary character of this congress was supported by several scientific activities, and a mock court with cross examination as well as a forensic anthropology course with international participation have been part of this satisfactory event. We indeed were in great sorrow, and mourning during this congress, because an excellent Professor, and a dear brother to all of us have been dead just before the congress. Every discussion, meeting, presentation beared his respectful memory, since we have learned how to be an academic, and a human being in this relationship. You are going to witness this personality when you read Assoc. Prof. Kriton Dinçmen’s and Prof. Sermet Koç’s letters in third issue. Sincerely, Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Prof. Dr.

Vol. 11 No. 1 (2006)
This last issue of the year completes 9th volume of our Bulletin. Our everyday practice is going to change drastically with amendment of Turkish Penal Code, as well as other several legislations. Associate Professor Yasemin Balcı had written an article on injury scales, and we have discussed this topic on several occasions. A symposium has been held in December on these amendments, and academics who had worked for the new Turkish Penal Code also participated. We are going to have a workshop in January, and preparations for a new injury scale for liability will be completed by then. Assoc. Prof. Yasemin Balcı is the leader of this teamwork, and the result is very important for evaluation of clinical forensic medicine cases on terms of evidence based medicine. We have to mention one more sad event that occurred at the end of this year. Our respected colleague Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aykaç passed away, and left us with intolerable sorrow. We hope to serve for our dearest colleagues who have left us with a valuable burden of responsibility. Sincerely yours, Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Prof. Dr.
