Öz
Bu çalışmanın amacı, ayrımcılık ile onun farklı biçimleri olan ötekileştirme, dışlanma ve ırkçılığın bireylerin ruh sağlığı üzerindeki etkilerini literatür ışığında sistematik bir şekilde incelemektir. Toplumda yaygın biçimde görülen ayrımcılık ile, bireyleri gruplara ayırarak bu gruplara olumsuz değerler atfedilir ve eşitsizlikleri pekiştirilir. Özellikle etnik temelli ayrımcılık, bazı bireylerin toplumda daha düşük bir konumda görülmesine neden olarak damgalanma ve dışlanmayı artırır. Bu durum, bireylerin psikolojik iyi oluşlarını tehdit eden uzun vadeli etkiler yaratabilir.
Bu çalışma, ilgili literatürün sistematik olarak incelenmesine dayanan nitelikte bir derleme araştırmasıdır. Psikoloji, psikiyatri ve sosyoloji alanındaki kaynaklar ile DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) ve ICD (International Classification of Diseases) gibi tanı sistemleri incelenerek, ayrımcılığın ruh sağlığı üzerindeki etkileri değerlendirilmiştir. Travma, stres ve depresyon gibi ruhsal sorunlarla ayrımcılık arasındaki ilişkiler ele alınmıştır.
Ayrımcılığa ve ırkçılığa maruz kalan bireylerin sadece toplumsal dışlanma ve etiketlenme değil, aynı zamanda kaygı, stres, depresyon gibi ciddi psikolojik sorunlar yaşadığı görülmektedir. Bu etkiler sadece bireysel değil, toplumsal düzeyde de sağlıksız yapıların oluşmasına neden olmaktadır. Yetersiz sosyal destek, psikolojik travmaları derinleştirmekte; tanı sistemleri de uzun süreli ayrımcılığın ruhsal bozukluklara zemin hazırladığını dolaylı biçimde kabul etmektedir.
Çalışma, ayrımcılığın ruh sağlığı üzerinde olumsuz etkiler yarattığını göstermektedir. Bu etkiler çoğu zaman bireysel yetersizlik gibi algılansa da, aslında yapısal ve toplumsal sorunlara dayanmaktadır. Ayrımcılığın önlenmesi, sosyal destek sistemlerinin güçlendirilmesi ve eşitlikçi politikaların geliştirilmesi, hem bireylerin hem de toplumun ruh sağlığının korunması açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır.
